The team have waited for a core update to the engine that was supposed to release over four months ago, as updates to the engine have broken code in the past. Releasing a statement on Facebook, Environment Artist Ibanez explains the difficulties of using the engine, claiming вЂњWhat takes a few minutes in another engine took up to four days in CryEngine.вЂќ There is a catch, however, as the game has to be made using CryEngine. The team has been hard at work for years now to bring the TimeSplitters games back to life in glorious high-definition after they got blessing from the owner of the IP, Crytek. TimeSplitters Rewind was originally announced in 2013 for PC and a few months later for PlayStation 4.

Progress on the game has halted and while the team are waiting for Crytek to update its engine, there might be a need to ditch the project in favour of a new IP all together. Last time we reported on TimeSplitters Rewind, back in 2013, we noted the project had Crytek's blessing, and was being developed as a multiplayer-focused remake of Free Radical's TimeSplitters. TimeSplitters Rewind is a fan creation by developer Cinder Interactive Arts and is due for a 2017 release, however platforms have not been specified, itвЂ™s fairly certain that we will see a PC release.TimeSplitters Rewind has had a long and tough road of development, with the voluntary team revealing that they are currently at an impasse where hard choices need to be made. There were also some weapon models featured, for example, the Soviet Rifle below. Then in September last year we got to see a screenshot on their blog, of a character holding a shotgun with the classic crosshair shown. Back in August last year they shared a video of a gun range to show off some of the weapons they were working on, but the video is currently set to private so we donвЂ™t get to enjoy the video.

Perhaps towards September or November?ДЄs for gameplay there really isnвЂ™t much to see. The trailer below doesnвЂ™t really show anything gameplay related, but it does show the release date going from 2018 to 2017, so hopefully weвЂ™ll be seeing this sometime this year. While it will be arriving on PC, TimeSplitters Rewind will also be heading to the PlayStation 4 (although a Wii U release is most definitely not happening). There will be characters, weapons, and maps from all of the previous three games, TimeSplitters, TimeSplitters 2, and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. TimeSplitters Rewind is being created with the CRYENGINE, and will be a multiplayer experience to please fans of the original. Cinder Interactive Arts have a remake of TimeSplitters coming to our hands hopefully this year.
